Blessings of Brigid's Day to you and yours
1st February, Imbolc, Brigid's Day, the start of Spring
I hope you are all keeping well. We've had a lovely start to the year in this part of the world - bright skies and mild days.
Now the days are getting noticeably longer and there are the first signs of Spring.
We've been busy in our recording studio finishing a new song to mark the day
Check out First of February here on YouTube
I had my first go at making a Brigid's cross with rushes I collected near my home house in Belleek. You'll spot a little clip of me making it in the video of the song.
Take care and enjoy the coming spring.
St Brigid's blessings to you too :) My rush cross I made last year has just managed to survive and is now destined for the compost - I am making a fresh one on Saturday (to show a young volunteer how to do it) - Happy Imbolc day too xxx
ReplyDeleteI've had an old one for several years and it really needs to go to the compost too.
DeleteHi Fil and Tom - the weather has been relatively kind to us over winter - while like you I'm now enjoying the longer days ... have a great year ahead - the rush cross looks amazing ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteWinter may still be ahead of us Hilary, but there's still a feeling of a new year in the air for sure.
DeleteI love your Brigid Cross, we had a lovely ceremony in a local woods which is our place to celebrate Imbolc. We didn't make crosses this year, they are very satisfying to make aren't they.
ReplyDeleteThey definitely are fun to make although I had trouble finding rushes. A celebration in the woods sounds lovely.
DeleteThe cross is lovely. Way to go, especially for your first go round. No rushes around here. Sounds like you're keeping busy with your music. The days are getting longer here too, and I'm seeing a few inches of greenery popping up from the ground, so hopefully Spring will be here soon.
ReplyDeleteMaking blog rounds, waving hello and wishing you a Happy Easter.
