Up in Portsoy we played in the Salmon Bothy and behind the stage area was this huge big painting, as I thought. Until I got closer and realised it was a knitted painting. Two of them.
So just for you crafters out there here are a few pics ...
Firstly, the Harbour
And what would you find in a Harbour of a Salmon Bothy? A salmon of course! |
Have you been knitting anything unusual recently?
It's getting around to that time of the year isn't it.
Oh how perfectly sweet! Tis a lovely idea!
ReplyDeleteI fell in love with that place up there Kezzie
DeleteHi Fil - so clever and wonderful to see ... I don't and can't wear many fabrics .. and thus am not a happy crafter and definitely not knitter ... wish I could. But those are brilliant ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteThere are so many great ideas out there with crafts now Hilary -the patience that went into making this must have been huge.
DeleteIt is fantastic! I loved it, such a great talent - and a brilliant idea! Do you know the name of the company that sells that? Cause I want one like that, so much! Bothy Knitters, I guess, I will google that now :) Hugs, dear Fil!

I doubt if it's for sale Denise - although there are similar things available. I went with friends to a huge Knitting and Stitching Show at the weekend and there were so many wonderful textile artists exhibiting their work. I'll see if I can find some web addresses for you.
DeleteWow! That's brilliant.
ReplyDeleteAt the moment I'm knitting a baker and a selection of his wares. ;-)
I think I saw this knitted picture of the harbour village displayed at Alexandra Palace last year as part of their knitting show - truly amazing :) The fish one I haven't seen. I've just finished knitting a simple cowl which I'm donating to our charity cause for homeless women this Christmas so there might be a few more to come - knitted from odd balls in my stash!!
