Photo Scavenger Hunt: Chocolate

Desserts to finish a festival

The photo scavenger hunt has a new host this week - Astrid at Dragon Stitches and Stuff has taken over the reins from Kate who hosted it for the past 5 years.   Thank you Kate and hello Astrid :)

And the first prompt for April is

Chocolate

Now I have a problem with this one because I don't actually like chocolate.   I used to - in fact I lived on it in my younger days, but I became ill several years ago and it was chocolate and champagne on a birthday treat that made me really sick and I've associated the two with that since.  I persevered with it for several months - trust me, I wasn't about to let that one go, but nope ...  I never liked chocolate cake or brownies -  coffee cake was always my preference even as a child.   So why am I always struggling with my weight I ask myself.

Anyway, this lovely looking dessert was at a meal to wind down from Fiddlers Green Festival a few years back with some of our friends from abroad.   Sadly it looks like the festival won't happen again this year but things are definitely looking up and next year the celebrations will be fierce.

The sun is shining here, we've had a glorious couple of days and we've been back in the studio gently working on songs, in between doing some tidying jobs in the garden and trying to keep up with whatever Monty Don tells us needs doing lol.  Even managed a socially distanced barbecue for a friend's birthday and it was a treat - just 3 of us, but it was excellent.

Lovely to see the yellow on the broom

Happy Easter to you all.   Take care of yourself and stay safe.

  1. We're hoping for mild weather on Sunday as we are having a family afternoon tea in the garden - first one with all the family but at a sensible distance (I shall have to throw slices of cake at them all hahahaha - suddenly Sunday looks like its going to be fun/naughty!!)

  2. That dessert looks very decadent and even though I like my chocolate, I can only eat a small piece of dark at any one time. Do hope you get to hit the road again next year & may be even that long thought about trip to Oz. Take care, stay safe & hugs.

  3. Sorry to hear about your chocolate experience - it certainly sounds like it was dreadful! But the dessert does look delightful. Glad you got to do some social distanced celebrating and that there are some Spring flowers to be enjoyed.

  4. Hi Fil - well for keeping us as we grow older in shape ... avoiding chocolate and champers is probably a good thing! I try not to buy. Life still isn't easier is it ... a little relief - but I do hope the wretched virus will wear itself out.
All the best to the two of you ... with your writing new songs ... and have a peaceful Easter - yes the blooms are blooming - enjoy - Hilary

  5. Such a shame you can't tolerate/like chocolate; that desert looks magnificent. Fingers crossed we are all moving forward in a positive way.

  6. That dessert does look amazing. I must admit I have a weak spot for both chocolate and cake and if both are combine then even better ... not good for either my health or my waistline ... I think I need some help from Paul McKenna. Hope you have a lovely Easter 😃

  7. The dessert looks like it would probably be quite rich. A coincidence that you should mention the chocolate and champagne as I had a similar experience way back in the early 1990s. I used to visit a friend every Sunday and would always take a king-size Mars bar to eat during the evening - one day her boyfriend came over and even though I don't drink I was persuaded to have a couple of glasses of Bacardi and Coke, the result being that I was very ill later on. Even though it was the drink which caused it I've never been able to eat a Mars bar since :(

  9. Cake looks delicious if rather rich. I love anything chocolate but my preference is good old fashioned Cadbury's Dairy Milk or a KitKat. xx

  10. Mmm, that looks wonderful! I'm sorry you can no longer eat chocolate, but there are plenty of other goodies out there and coffee cake is certainly one of them! It sounds like you're getting a little busier, slowly getting closer to "normal"?

  11. The dessert looks very tasty! I can understand you associating it with your bad memory of being ill- I think that's why I don't like yoghurt as I had some that was OFF when I was young and now, to me, it all tastes off!
