I am joining in today with the We Are The World Blogfest - a monthly burst of blogging across the Internet to bring Positive News to everyone's attention.
In Darkness, Be Light.
The plight of refugees never seems to be far from the news these days and this story just lifted my heart.
It's about a group of musicians, play specialists, clowns and circus entertainers who travel into refugee camps to bring a smile to the faces of the children.
They are called The Flying Seagulls Project
No matter what the circumstances or where they have come from, children deserve to have fun and this band of troubadours have made it their mission in life to help the kids do that - to remind them that they are children. The story was featured on BBC Three and was shared around Facebook.

Oh my, what a beautiful story! It brought tears to my eyes, that this group engages these children is such a fun and beautiful way with the arts and kid stuff. I would like to thank and hug each and every one. Thank you for sharing this story and participating in #WATWB.

ReplyDeleteOh Fil - this is a most wonderful share. I couldn't watch the video without sobbing. What are we doing to all the beautiful children on our planet?! I hold such gratitude and respect for those trying to make a difference, and The Flying Seagull Project deserves great kudos for their work.

This is wonderful, Fil! We had a similar group after a 7.8 earthquake last year here in Ecuador. They traveled to tent cities, entertaining the children. What a difference in a child's day to be able to laugh for any amount of time when living in those circumstances. Thank you for sharing this great story with us!

ReplyDeleteFil, those Flying Seagulls are doing a wonderful thing to gladden the lives of children. Their costumes remind me of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival that I saw some years ago. Thanks for sharing Simon’s Still Stanza #WATWB
