Reading My Way Around the World

A few walks and memories

I've started to play with my camera again this past week, trying to remember what I'm doing with it!  My attention span is getting worse by the day lol

Birds

Beach

Walking on the beach last night I spotted these winkle shells tucked in-between the rocks

Bridge

Tenuous link to bridge here - the bridge of the violin was the closest I could find - taken at this session in Antrim last month.  The tunes played at a session are also bridging the gap between amateur and professional and between cultures and between songs and stories.

Bottom

The ferns at the bottom of the forest this morning - they look so luscious

Butterfly

There have been very few butterflies around this summer - but I remembered this old brooch I had.  Once I'd cleaned up the candle wax off it (?) it got the chance to shine again :)

Joining up today with Scavenger Hunt Sunday

  1. Beautiful photos. I particlarly love the ferns and remember them, the dew on them, that wonderful smell of the woods. I don't get any of that here, so I'm glad I have the memories.

  2. Great selections for the prompts. Your butterfly brooch is lovely and the ferns are gorgeous. Using the bridge on the violin is very clever. Have a lovely week!

  4. How clever to think of a bridge on a violin. That never occured to me. Love your brooch.

  5. Those shells have wonderful shiny colors. As soon as I saw your bridge photo, I knew it was the bridge on the violin you were thinking of....My mother was a music teacher so maybe that is why I understood it so quickly? And that was clever for bridge I thought.

  7. Clever!!!! What gorgeous pinky shells! They remind me of an Enid Blyton book in which they collect pink shells and use them to leave a trail- The Adventurous Four Again maybe?x

  9. Hi Fil - lovely photos and connective thoughts - the bridge link is great. We've had quite a few butterflies and they're still around - but perhaps not prolific ... love the brooch too. It's good to be creative in any which way ... cheers Hilary

  16. Great photos Fil - and it's fun to see where the scavenger prompts have led you. I love the winkles shot - there's something about winkles that just delights me. I can hardly say the name without a grin popping up on my face.
