A lovely memory - scavenger photo hunt

We're really missing being out on the road seeing people and doing what we do best.

This time two years ago we were in Denmark for a 10 day trip staying with a dear friend where we did a series of house concerts.

She and her family train horses for carriage races - very exciting to watch - and her house is filled with horsey things.   I had a couple of riding lessons which I loved and we got to ride on the back of a carriage being pulled by four horses racing around an arena ... great experience .

The first grandchild of the house was born while we were there - her mother was riding horses until the afternoon she gave birth so it was no surprise to recently see the wee one, now just turned 2 years old, riding a toy rocking horse like she was a pro ... very cute.

Joining in today with Kate's Photo Scavenger Hunt which used to be monthly but is now a weekly word challenge.   Lots of lovely people join in from around the world.

  1. Hi Fil - wonderful remembrances ... I have a cousin who's been competing with carriages for a while, and now a SIL who does riding for the disabled ... I'm not fond of horses! Excellent to read she was riding til just before the birth ... all the best - Hilary

    1. Hi Hilary, the riding school where we were was set up in the first place for disabled riders - it's a wonderful enterprise.

  2. How lovely - I rather like the 'horse in the window' in your first photo :) xx You will be able to get out on the road again - it is just a matter of time :)

  3. How cool is that?! My Dad had a penfriend in Canada whose family did harness racing, but I've never seen that kind of carriage racing. It sounds like you made some amazing memories there.

  4. A lovely memory & how lucky to have a riding lesson, something I've always wanted to do, but never got around to it. I love the idea of the little one having her own rocking horse. Take care, stay safe & hugs. PS: Still not caught up with P & T yet.

  5. Love the horse in the window. I do like horses but would not want to keep one. I've seen carriage racing on the TV and it is scary. You were brave to try this.

    1. Oh I didn't try racing ... my gosh that would have been terrifying - even riding on the back at a very slow pace was enough for me

  6. I like the rocking horse in the window. I always wanted one when I was a kid though I never got one, so about 15 years ago I bought one off a friend just so I could indulge my childhood wish. I still have it but it's tucked away somewhere in the garage.

  7. What lovely memories. As Kate says you will get back to it again. I love that wooden horse in the window and his beads are gorgeous.

    1. I agree with you Jak - it was the beads that first caught me - my friend loves her jewellery.

  8. I bet you do miss being on the road! I have been so busy with school to really miss playing music too much but when I am resting, that's when I miss it!
