It's taken me nearly 12 months of this lockdown to start feeling rested enough to miss our old life. I'm not complaining - we live in a beautiful place and don't want for anything and are getting enough work online to keep us going. But I am really starting to miss getting out on the road, meeting people, performing live on stage and above all sampling food in the different countries we visit. So today I'm joining in with Kate's blog for another scavenger hunt prompt - Delicious - and a wee trip around some of our journeys.
Looking back over my photographs I'd not noticed before how big a part food plays in travelling and even in our day to day socialising.
From the bratwurst at a stand in Germany to coffee at a terrasse cafe in France, or a beer under a heated lamp in mid winter in Holland, or Kaffee and Kuchen with friends on an afternoon off, or cake in Denmark or a really good curry in England or the best fish and chips I've ever tasted in Shetland, or even just an ice cream beside the seaside taking my mother to Bundoran. I've not not got photos for all of these but so many of our memories are tied up with food that I can understand now why the early days of Facebook were so populated with pictures of people's dinners. (Disclaimer here: I'm usually too busy eating to remember to photograph food, so it's not surprising most of these are of desserts when there was time to relax).
Take care of yourselves - and you can see what others have written about for this prompt HERE.
What a lovely and interesting selection of photographs of food taken during your travels. Love the carrot!! You don't say how many people that pizza was supposed to feed - hope more than the two of you. x
ReplyDeleteWell three of us sat down to it Jak lol. but it actually was very light.
DeleteOh what lovely memories - food can be so evocative of certain places, brings back so many memories. Flavours are amazing triggers, it shouldn't be much longer before you can start going out on the road again - hang on in there! Not long now ❤
ReplyDeleteYes, Kate, thank you x
DeleteI love the supermarket vegetable display, it's so colourful and well arranged. I'm afraid gourmet desserts do nothing for me at all but I love your little carrot - I would have been tempted to give it a cute name :)
ReplyDeleteFun idea :).
DeleteWhat a fabulous selection of some wonderful looking foods treats. I have to admit I tend to recall holidays and trips out also by food ... often cake 😃
ReplyDeleteAs my mother would say, you'd think we'd never been fed at home lol
DeleteWhat a lovely lot of photos of food & some do look delicious. I rarely take photos of food except our home grown produce. Your veg display reminded of the flower & veg hall at the Royal Easter Show in Sydney, which I've not been to for a long, long time. When we were children it was an annual outing for us I grew up in Sydney. Thanks for sharing & take care.
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan - yes, I don't often take food photos either - it's going to be good to get the sunshine again to take photos of anything.
DeleteOh yes, travel foods are always a nice memory. I'll have to show the pizza pic to my husband, we make pizza every Friday night but I don't think that size would fit in our oven!
ReplyDeletelol - I didn't see the size of the oven it came from but it must have been huge
DeleteYummy foody photos
ReplyDeleteJulie xxxxx
Thanks KC - Delicious memories
DeleteAmazing selection of delicious food though I'd pass on the mussels.... my favourite has to be the cake photo as I do have a sweet tooth! Can't believe 3 of you ate that pizza! I too thought the vegetable display was delightful.
ReplyDeleteHi Fil - they all look delicious ... those market ones, and then the excellent presentation - even the petite carrotte!!! Brilliant ... would love the mussels - all the best now ... Hilary
ReplyDeleteVery mouth watering post. I made some cakes yesterday so I can indulge in my sugar cravings.
