The A to Z challenge 2015

The A to Z challenge is going to be coming up again in April this year - if you haven't done it yet, and fancy taking on the challenge of writing a blog a day for the whole of April , not including Sundays, and going through the whole alphabet and meeting lots of new people, it's well worth having a go at.   It's not for the faint hearted - I have to say I found it really challenging last year and I wasn't so busy, so there was time to figure out what to write about.    A lot of people took a theme and I think that this year I'm going to do the same.   so I've been wrecking my brain and I think I have one that will be do-able.   I'll tell you at the end of March :)  I met some wonderful people on it, some that have become like friends , or pen friends … part of the challenge is to visit at least 5 blogs a day and there are people from all over the world and from all walks of life.

Meanwhile this has been a silly crazy time work wise - yesterday for instance, the day started with a meeting about The Emigrants's Tale - that's a subject for another post; followed by a rehearsal for the tour coming up in Scotland and England, followed by more writing for The Emigrants' Tale, and finishing up with doing voice overs for a TV ad!   Phew …. The day before was similar - singing with senior citizens, planning for a German tour in October, recording piano pieces for the Emigrants Tale and working out songs for one of my students …. I'm also trying to learn new songs for the recording that got postponed by a few weeks … My brain's been melting a bit, but thankfully I've managed to keep all the balls in the air without dropping any.

And ending on a funny note, we're visiting my Mum this weekend.  Her wee cat is feeling a bit sorry for itself after getting the operation earlier in the week.   But …. when she took her wee boy cat to the vet, they told her it wasn't a boy, but a girl!!  My poor mother was mortified, but the vet's staff and everyone since has had such a good laugh … .It was worth it to bring a smile to their faces - I often feel sorry for people working in veterinary surgeries - the so often have to deal with such awful things and for people who love animals that must be so hard …. I'm sure my mother's mistaken identity will keep them cheered up for a while to come …. Meanwhile Tiger is still a bit off colour and will still remain Tiger ….

How's your week been?
Did you do the A to Z last year?   And are you up for it again this year?
How do you cope with doing 10 different things at once?
I'd love to hear from you.

  1. I sure don't try and do 10 different things at once. Maybe get one thing done and out of the way and then start on the next. Yup, I will be A to Zing again this year. Got a sort of theme in mind. Good luck with everything you have to do. Emigrant's? You sure you've got that word right?

    1. Yes Jo, she was the emigrant … and the immigrant … we deliberately chose the former … I'm trying to learn to only do one thing at a time - it is better, but distractions plague me and I'm not very good at sidestepping them :)
Glad you'e doing the challenge again - I've been following your blog since last year's event. Have a good week.

I feel slightly embarrased to ask you to accept my Very Inspiring Blogger nomination please don't feel you have to launch yourself into it just know I do so feel you inspire others :-)

    1. That's so sweet of you Pempi - I'm chuffed …. is it ok to wait a week or two to look at it? I'm heading over your side of the water next week to do some gigs so life will be a bit less manic…. honestly I feel totally wired … life is not usually like this for me and it will calm down again soon but I don't want to jinx the work coming in by complaining about it lol Catch 22. And it's all stuff I love. Have a great week.

  3. I did the A-Z last year, but I'm pretty much one and done. No time to work on it and even if I had it, no theme to think of.

Sounds like you got an extremely full plate to work with there. Best of luck to you.

    1. Still not totally convinced about doing it but things are calming down a bit after St Patricks' Day so it'd be good if I can find something that ties in with my other work rather than being too random.

  4. Your days are certianly busy. reminds me of when i was a full time mom and a part nurse and there was something to do every minute of my day. Now that I am retired I am still busy all day every day but with few deadlines it doesn't seem that difficult. Your mom's story about the boy/girl cat is sweet and I am sure everyone had a good laugh over that. The A to Z chaallenge sounds so fun but we have grandkids visiting for the second week in april so am not sure yet. I don't want to commit to it and fail to post while they are here.

  5. Hi Til,
The A-Z sounds interesting but I'm already taking part in Alphabe-Thursday's so will pass.
It sounds as if you've been very busy recently how exciting for you to have so much going on.
Nice to know your Mum's confusion amused the Vet!

  6. The little Tiger tale has me smiling. And how fun about the A-Z challenge. You know I love me some abecedariums! And so while I'll be away for a week on retreat, maybe I'll play along anyway - sounds like great fun. Wishing you a slightly less crazy, but still altogether wonderful week Fil.

  8. A-Z sounds intriguing! I shall go and give it a wee look!
People ALWAYS get the sex of their animals wrong. My Mum was a vet nurse and it is SO common. At least you didn't end up with babies. We thought we had 2 girl rats and ended up with 20 babies! Luckily we homed them very easily. All our male animals were castrated- rat, chinchilla, rabbit, cats...x

The A to Z is a huge challenge but it's very interesting and i found it good fun. But I'm still trying to decide if I have enough free time.
